Move Over Law

Move Over Law
Florida Move Over Statute 316.126 requires all drivers to move over one lane when possible or if moving over is not possible to reduce speed by 20 miles per hour less that the speed limit. Drivers are required to move over for any law enforcement vehicles, ambulances or wreckers and DOT Road Rangers. Basically if it is stopped on the side of the road with flashing lights you must move over. It is a good idea to move over if a vehicle is disable or on the side of a road.

Drivers can expect to pay a fine of $120.00 and receive 3 points on their driver’s license. The violator may be required to attend a four (4) hour Driver Improvement Course.
